Take some cold drinks on your next road trip while leaving the ice at home with a Coleman® 40 Quart PowerChill™ Thermoelectric Cooler. More than a cooler, but not quite a refrigerator, it cools up to 22°C (40 °F) below the surrounding temperature without any ice. You can use it like you would any other cooler except, instead of throwing ice inside, you simply plug in the 12V car power adaptor. Then add your pre-chilled drinks and snacks. Your cooler will reach maximum coldness in about three hours (you can speed this up by adding Coleman® ice substitutes) and stay cold as long as it's plugged in. Large enough to hold 44 cans, you'll have plenty of space for refreshments for the whole trip, and you can keep all your contents organized with the storage tray. It fits easily into almost any vehicle, especially since you can lay it down for use as a chest cooler or turn it upright to fit in narrower spaces. The door converts to open from the right or left sides to offer even more placement flexibility. No matter where you set it up or how far you travel, with this cooler, you can always be sure to have some cold refreshments on hand to keep you going during your adventure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Shawn from Cheap and disposable The fan on the outside of the cooler is the first failure point, usually at about the 6 month range. The fan on the inside seems to last longer, and fails around 9 months to year from my experience. By replacing the fans with 12v computer fans I have managed to get one cooler to function well past a year. but that is the only way that I have seen to get it to last that long.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jkkk from Cheap fan motors Overall I like the ice chest. But the 12 volt fans are cheap and burn up quickly . The fan motors cause the plastic plugins to overheat and melt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by lovescamping from Versatile and Convenient Using it standing up or on its side, there's plenty of room for all your essentials to stay cold during the drive and at your destination for your entire trip. The motor is not loud and no need to keep buying ice every other day. You really need to get the adapter too so that you can plug it in when you get to your destination, as it only comes with the cable to connect to your 12V car plug. The unique thing about this cooler is that you can change the door to open it from the other direction if you want it to. The only thing lacking is the ability to carry it easily when it is in the standing up position. The handgrips it has are for carrying it in the side position. Really a must-have to compliment your essentials for camping, RVing, boating, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lucian from Works fine for my use. I use it year-round in the back of my Subaru Outback, lying flat with the cover on top, plugged into the electric plug there. It keeps things cool in the summer and keeps from freezing in the winter. It,of course, is only powered when the car is running, so things do warm up a bit over-night, though not a lot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gigi4417 from Good iceless cooler This was for use when travelling a few days and needing to keep perishables from going bad. It worked well. We followed the instructions and never kept it plugged in longer than 4 hours a day, and when not plugged in, it still kept the food cool. It is not s refrigerator, so the food wasn’t really cold, but the food didn’t go bad. We have not tried plugging it into our car, but was told if doing so, to always do it while the car is running. It is a good size, light weight, and can be used upright or like a traditional cooler. Happy with our purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Noname from So far so good The product works as advertised. If the cooler’s in an environment under 25 degrees C it will bring food down to refrigeration range (0-4 degrees C). On cooler days you can expect items in the bottom to actually freeze, but that’s a good place to keep meat. I’ve used it on three trips and it’s still running. I recommend buying the ac adapter for campsites with power.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Crusaders from Cool cooler, flaky plug... Had our unit for many years. The constant weak part: the 12V connector (cooler & adapter). Heats up and fails to connect. Otherwise, the cooler works very well. We are traveling 5thWheel fulltimers and use it in all conditions.
