Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light and affordable! Actually in Alaska and there are areas where there is no electricity nor any utilities. This one that uses white gas puts out a bright light. I am looking for another lantern which is a necessity in the winter here. In Anchorage the street lights come on at 3:30. This type is more doable long term and when access to stores is difficult.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as bright or durable as the old Silk-Lites These new mantles are not as bright or durable as the old Silk-Lites. They're better than none I guess. I've switched over to the other brand which can still be found with thorium instead of Yttrium.
