Pay attention to the reviews
This grill could be great but has a major design flaw and is poorly assembled. The clip and metal screws that keep the tray from freely sliding out fell out on one side. Now the tray won’t stay in when I fold it up. Other issue is the griddle you can purchase separately sits high and you can’t close the lid if using it. The positive to it is the burner and burner control. It could be an amazing grill but as of now I would not purchase it again or recommend it. Which I hate saying cause I’ve always loved my Coleman grills prior to this. This one happening to be the most expensive as well and I can’t find the parts to repair it.

Love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Occasionally we go to the lakefront and eat seafood and let the kids play, but this time we were able to have BBQ. This grill was awesome! I'm use to charcoal so I didn't know how i would like it, but it was good. The grill was cute and easy to put in the trunk, and the wheels were a big help also. They made it easy to get it from the car to whatever spot we setup up. The food taste really and it cooked evenly, I don't know why I didn't get one of these grills sooner. I've been bragging about it to my friends and telling them how it's good to have one of these on hand.

You can grill at home just like any other propane grill or you can pack it up and head to your favorite park or beach. It’s completely lightweight and fold up to a small size. What I like most about it is how sturdy it is. It has substance where it's not easily knocked over, and it can withstand many many uses. The easy of use is also pleasant, and the many features is amazing too! It heats quickly and evening and has plenty of space to make several items at once! It's also easy to store and move around, which is definitely a plus. Anyone who does grilling and travelling, even a short distance, needs one of these! I'd definitely recommend!

Excellent cooking tool for all mobile needs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for use on Jeep trail and camping trips. It's a great grill with plenty of cooking space for the entire camping group. It can be used out on the trail but it's a little too big for that and it rattles a lot on off road driving, but neither of those things are deal breakers for trail use. We've also used it for many weekend long lacrosse tournaments, it's great for this use. The only negative I could say is that the wheels are a little fragile and the bolt/axels have started to bend after a couple years of in and out of the Jeep and rolling to sites.

No parts available to fix. Broken just over 1 year
The BBQ stopped working just over the 1 year purchase date. We took it apart and tried to order what we think is the defective part but no success. Parts are not available. Also noticed that they do not list the warranty period on their website. I would not recommend. Our next BBQ will be a brand that offers replacement parts. Not a coleman.

Sturdy, affordable, excellent features
Not sure what I was expecting, but this certainly blew that out of the water. I did expect good quality and sturdy, but figured because it was portable some "tin-niness" would be necessary. Not so at all. Apparently this is the latest of the RoadTrip series, because it appears Coleman listened to at least some of the past reviews and made positive changes - easier instructions, higher lid with thermometer and three heat available settings.
Arrived at my door in less than a week (more like 3-4 days) in good shape - I was surprised by how heavy the package was. I'm older and not as handy as I'd like to admit, but I put it together alone in less than an hour, and found the instructions very clear. I've diy-ed it before but would never consider myself a master builder. Was impressed by the little details, such as including two of the wrenches - made tightening SO much easier and faster. (Thanks, Coleman).
Hint: If alone, open the top flaps, take out the instructions, and turn the box upside down onto a rug or blanket, then easily the box off - It still takes some finagling to unpack from all the styrofoam, but nowhere near as horrible as trying to dead-lift this monster straight out of the box, fighting the packing all the way!
I purchased to use mostly on the patio of my 2nd flr condo, so space was a bigger issue for me and figured grilling would need to be less elaborate -- not so. Grill is large and the 3 zones will allow me to sear, roast AND do veggies at same time. Not sure about turkey, but am sure I can roast a good-sized chicken in here - will update on that if can. I had thought I would not be moving from the 2nd floor, but now that I have it, I would not hesitate to drag it up and down the stairs for actual road trips &/or disasters.
Finally, I live in Tampa Bay and used to work for Red Cross, so planning ahead is part of this purchase. After Hurricane Irma, many of us spent up a week without power (some longer) in our undamaged homes. Obviously an electric grill is not an answer, but I am more than expecting this bad boy to not only stand up to stark conditions, but to easily get out of the way in the first place! And yes, I will be adding the burner plate to the grill and hotplate.
Oh yes, on a much less important note, I purchased this grill in blue and for me, pleasantly surprised (again) the blue is not the royal of prior grills. It's a nice color for my patio and actually kinda matches my Jeep - sorta.

Great features

It was a little difficult to assemble, you need help and the tools that bring are not the best. It brings two grates that are very good and strong. You can only use a small disposable bottle of propane, it is very easy to carry because it folds and have two wheels.
It has an electronic ignition and three control knobs, left, center and right. This grill is perfect for camping or for using in the backyard. You can cook vegetables or casseroles in ovenware. It is excellent for burgers and hot dogs too.

Best Portable Grill

The design of it is great! It has wheels and legs that fold down so it’s easy and quick to set up and take with you anywhere! It’s great for a backyard bbq, camping, or a day out at the park!
This is a propane grill so you don’t have to deal with fussy charcoal. It has an easy push start feature that’s very convenient.
If you’re in the market for a smaller and portable propane grill I recommend this to everyone!

It's big enough for at home use but small enough to take with you on outings. I was impressed on how easy the legs collapsed for easy transport. The three different areas for flame was a bonus so that direct and indirect cooking could be accomplished. The slide out platforms on each side were convenient. I was so happy that it took the small propane container so you didnt have to lug a huge one around. This grill is a all around win.

Road trip 285 SU grill green C001

This Coleman traveling grill is amazing, it's ran by propane and I was so grateful to get the chance to own this. We can't wait to use this on our traveling and camping trips. Its just like having a regular sized grill. We have owned one before and grilled some amazing food, like steaks, chicken breast, veggies and even used our kettles to have hot water for tea and other delicious drinks. Still great, but a step down from the LXX model
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First and foremost, this is a great tailgate/family camping grill. Tons of heat, and greater temp control than my older model (Roadtrip LXX). However, it is missing out on some key features of the older LXX model that makes it not quite as good of a product (at this price point) as the former model - missing the stainless steel pull out side tables, LXX ones seem sturdier, too; missing hooks for utensils; the 285 has a third burner, but with the drop in heat output, I don't see this as an improvement. Overall, still a great product and it fits all of the same accessories - like the stove grates which make this a highly versatile product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went tailgating and couldn’t wait to bring my Coleman RoadTrip 286 Portable StandUp Propane Grill, it was the star of the show. It’s easy to tuck away in your car for easy transport or to put away for end of season. I love how you can grill on it or switch it up and use the griddle for all your veggies and sides, it has 3 independently burners. I can grill steak and cook my vegetables at the same time. It’s extremely easy to use, just push the instastart ignition for matchless lighting, and adjust the heat with enhanced temperature control.

Best Yet
I was reluctant to buy this small grill. I am not a camper so I bought it for regular home use. It is the best investment I have made on a gas grill. Perfect fo 2 people, yet if I get visitors I can cook for them as well. I have cooked for 6 people with no problem. The grill grates are easy to clean. I wash them in the kitchen sink. Since I use it at home I connect it to my 20lb propane tank. Much less expensive than the small tanks. I keep a small tank around in case my 20lb tank runs out of fuel. I love this grill.

Portable, easy to use grill.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First I will comment on the packaging, I found that it was pretty beat up upon arrival and the items inside were shuffled around, causing slight scratches on the grill. I did not remove any stars for that since that could have easily been FedEx’s fault and nothing to do with the product itself. However, the grill was easy to put together and fire up. I like that the grill is lightweight and is easily portable with one hand operation. I got the grill up to 500 degrees very quickly and everything functioned and cooked evenly. From camping, to park cookouts to tailgating, this grill will be able to do it all. I would highly recommend this grill!

haven't even gotten to use it
We bought this grill despite its super high cost, and upon assembly, nuts were missing for the attached thermometer so it was wiggly. Then, my husband was packing it in the car for a big trip to Big Bend when the lid POPPED OFF! The metal pins holding the lid hinges to the grill broke in half...all 6 of them! We haven't even used it yet and I don't see a way
to fix this. Didn't even survive being packed in the car. Don't buy!!!

Great portable grill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best portable grill I have ever used. I took it to tailgate before a concert. It was easy to build, I’m a 5’2” middle aged woman, did it myself in about half an hour while half watching tv. It folds and unfolds easily (once I read the directions), rolls around easily (like wheeled luggage), is easy to set up quickly and get cooking. I like that I don’t need a table or to cook on the ground, this grill is the perfect height and with 2 extending table areas, there is room for the tongs, bbq sauce, and beer! I would definitely recommend this grill to someone who tailgates, or needs a smaller grill that still has a big cooking surface.

Still going strong over a year later
I got this for my husband, since he loves tailgating and everyone hated bringing grills. He decided he liked it so much that he just put it on our deck and it's become the main grill. It's easy to move when cleaning and nothing has needed a replacement. My husband is pretty tough on products, so the fact that nothing has broken, says something. I'm actully ordering some for a company giveaway.

Perfect for camping!

I also bought the griddle too which we use on one half of the grill and the other half we use the regular grate- which means you can do so many things at once. Coffee, steaks, breakfast, anything can be cooked on this grill! It folds down and locks in place so you can wheel it anywhere. It is on the heavier side but it’s definitely sturdy and well built. I’ve dropped mine on accident, everything is still working perfectly. great for tailgating things, would definitely recommend!

Finally can enjoy road trips bbq!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one heck of a nice grill! I've used it several times and it cooks better than my larger one. It's a bit heavy, but the quality of the construction is impressive. The design is excellent, and it folds for rolling and storage easily. Kudos to the designer . The third burner adds plenty of additional heat when needed. A 1 pound propane tank will last well over an hour depending on the use of the burners. These screw in easily below the grill. During the initial few uses burgers and chicken will stick and leave a bit of their delicate charred surface on the grill. A smoother surface will season much easier. Otherwise, this is a nice grill. Recommended!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Man where to start absolutely love the Coleman gas grill. One of the main thing I like about the grill is that is easy clean up. I pretty much to use a wet rag and everything wiped right off. save me a lot of time. The second thing I really liked about the grill is that heats up evenly when you use all three burners this is the first gas grill I've ever had that had three burners the third thing I really like about the gas grill is that it's on wheels and I also folds down flat for Easy Storage , when they say portable that's exactly what they mean this grill is really portable . So coming from somebody who loves to grill that's mainly grilled with charcoal my whole life I highly recommend this Coleman gas grill it is definitely game changer thank me later!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, I wasn't expecting it to be the size it is but I'm obsessed. This is the perfect portable grill to have in your possession. It's going to last a long time, easy to clean, and the propane grill has three burners, push-button ignition, and a slide-out shelf.
It has a 285-square-inch cooking area and the three adjustable burners can create up to 20,000 BTUs.
It also has a large drip pan, side tables that can slide in and out and fold flat, sturdy collapsible legs, and two wheels for easy pulling. I love it

From camper to patio.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this grill to use in our camper and it was perfect for that. Now we no longer camp, I am now a widow and this grill is still perfect. Not only is it the right size for just me but also for when I have company. But the greatest feature, to me, is the fact that it operates on a 1 pound propane bottle and I can handle that. My grill has a lot of miles on it, a lot of hamburgers on it and hopefully a lot more to go. I recently bought the griddle and now I cook breakfast on the grill as well as many vegetables.

We grill a lot and have a HUGE grill that takes a lot of wood to get it going! We definitely something smaller for when it’s just the two of us. It was easy to assemble. It cooked great. We got a bottle of propane and had it going in a snap. Delicious steaks on the deck for the win. This grill is light weight with wheel and folds down for easy portability. I can’t wait for it to warm up so I can take it to the beach! Definitely worth it!

A Transformer in disguise
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use our grill primarily on camping trips. The grill is a part of my outdoor kitchen setup. We have cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. I enjoy having the interchangeable grill surfaces for cooking various foods and the carry case helps keep all of it safe and stowed away during transport to and from the camp site. Only gripe is the wheels became loose and wobbly, making it hard to maneuver.

Hello! Thank you for your question. Please be advised that you can connect the grill to a 20-pound propane tank, but you'll need to use an adaptor like a high-pressure 5-foot propane gas hose.
